The Virgin Suicides (1999) - dir. Sofia Coppola

What started off being an incredibly strong debut of a female filmmaker ended up being the true emergence of Kirsten Dunst as an actress and sex symbol. The film is, in its own way, perfect. Sure, it’s a little much of what it is, but the care and fastidiousness Coppola brings to the table eventually wins out.

Dunst, on the other hand, is breathtaking from the word go. The rest of the sisters really never stack up (proving to be the film’s biggest flaw), to the buxom Lux Lisbon. Also. the film has one of the greatest lines in any film ever - and I mean that sincerely - when Josh Hartnett leans over and says, “you’re a stone fox.”
