Easy A (2010) - dir. Will Gluck

An homage and an addition to the surprisingly lengthy list of good teen movies. Emma Stone is the perfect choice to play Olive. Throw in hysterical cameos from Thomas Haden Church, Malcolm McDowell and Stanley Tucci and now we’ve picked up some traction. There’s no surprises here. It’s another film about high school that relies heavily on plot points found in a novel often read by… wait for it… high schoolers.

But, in all seriousness, the references to The Scarlet Letter effortlessly go hand-in-hand with the Say Anything references - and that’s a pretty substantial achievement. If you’re looking for a great film - this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a great movie (and yes, there’s a difference), this could be it.
